Allergies. How a CBP Chiropractor can help.

April 17, 2019 by Desire Treski Leave a Comment

Allergies are a very common problem for a lot of people and they are often misunderstood. Allergies are your body’s natural reaction to overstimulation of a substance in the body. It’s your body’s way of trying to manage the overstimulation to whatever that allergen may be.

It’s misunderstood because many people think they can’t do anything about their allergies, that they are stuck with them. That is not true. The best thing to do for allergy management is to identify what’s causing the allergen and then once you know what the allergen is you can apply the right solution.

Most of the time it’s just diet modification or even now the newest studies in allergens are showing small doses of exposure to the allergen can allow your body to accommodate to it and overcome your allergy. A lot of allergies start because of lower immune system function in the body which can come from a number of things.

If they are adult on-set allergies it is usually because the immune system is compromised in some way. Your body is just more susceptible to overreacting to your immune system not being able to handle what it normally would.  Childhood allergies are often linked with cervical spine trauma, which is the neck at the time of birth. For example, babies that are c-sectioned are more likely to have allergies or asthma because of the pressure on the spinal cord.

One of the best things you can do to combat allergies is to get a CBP spinal check-up. When your spine is not working right your body is malfunctioning and might be one of the reasons you have allergies. So get a spinal check-up and set up and appointment to rid yourself of allergies.

Why is Chiropractic care considered natural?

March 6, 2019 by Desire Treski Leave a Comment

Chiropractic care is considered healthy primarily because there are no unnatural things being forced into the body to get the body to change, such as medicine. It is considered natural because chiropractic does not use drugs or surgery to try to change the body.

The body is changed through adjustments to help the body function at a better rate so that you don’t have to rely on medication. That’s why it’s considered natural. Chiropractors don’t encourage medicine or surgery, unless absolutely necessary.

There are a lot of ways that you can heal your body by just getting your spine aligned. Your body has the power to heal itself and with correct spinal alignment, your nervous system can operate at a higher capacity.

So, get a spinal check-up today with a CBP chiropractor and get yourself on the path to a medicine and surgery free life. For more information contact Dr. B at [email protected]

Can Yoga re-align the spine?

February 27, 2019 by Desire Treski Leave a Comment

The short answer is no.

We hear it often when we take yoga classes and instructional videos. However, your spine cannot be re-aligned by yoga.

If you look at how your body functions. The structure of your spine dictates the function of your muscles. Therefore, if you have a spinal situation such as scoliosis, which is a three-part movement of your spine, a rotation, a shift, and a bending of your spine to the side, there is absolutely nothing you can do in yoga that will take and shift those movements in the other direction.

CBP, Chiropractic Biophysics, adjustments are specifically designed to reduce scoliosis and are the only types of adjustments which can help in the re-alignment of your spine. Anyone with bad spinal structure will not be able to get that segment to go back to the normal alignment by doing yoga.

Yoga is for the muscles and ligaments, it’s not for the spine. Yoga is good for you because it helps you to stay limber and stretch your muscles but it does not re-align your spine. It is not a substitution for spinal adjustments.

So you should still get your spine checked by a CBP chiropractor so that you can have a healthy spine and do yoga as a supplement.

Kids need Chiropractors too!

February 20, 2019 by Desire Treski Leave a Comment

It’s simple, children need to be adjusted because they have spines as we all do. Children need to see a chiropractor maybe more so than adults because of their activity levels.

As a child grows they are learning how to walk, how to ride bikes, how to play sports and with all that comes falling, tripping, and stumbling. All of these things create trauma in the body, which creates misalignments and shifts creating a strain on the nervous system.

A child receives their first subluxation at birth. When the child is born either naturally or via c-section, the first subluxation occurs in the neck when the child is extracted from the mother. We know that upper cervical subluxation can be a cause for sudden infant death syndrome, so it is very important that every child has a spine check-up and adjustments.

As a child grows they are subject to the harsh realities of life. They may fall down a couple stairs or fall off the changing table. They may be tackled by a friend or tumble out of their crib when they’re starting to walk. Any time a trauma happens there’s spinal misalignments. Those have to be minimized in order for the child to be healthy.

Chiropractic care isn’t about how you feel. It’s about how you function. If you fall or have any kind of trauma your function is going to be affected, no matter how old you are. So get your child a spinal check-up today. Their immune system with get a boost and they’ll grow up big and strong.

How does CBP help with high blood pressure?

February 13, 2019 by Desire Treski Leave a Comment

What is high blood pressure and how can a CBP chiropractor help?

High blood pressure is a result of your body malfunctioning. People are not born with high blood pressure but it is something that develops over time and we have to figure out why that is.

There can be primary and/or secondary causes that lead to high blood pressure. Sometimes there are primary causes, which means something within the body is malfunctioning, maybe the heart is malfunctioning or the blood vessels are incorrectly shaped. Sometimes it’s a secondary cause which is lifestyle induced. It’s the foods that you eat, it’s your stress levels, or that you don’t exercise.

This is why in February the American Heart Association focuses on heart health and trying to make sure that people take care of their heart because that determines blood pressure. It’s very hard to control the things that people are exposed to. For example,  if people grow up with people smoking around them they are pre-disposed to high blood pressure because of that.

CBP can help.

Chiropractic care is it helps to increase the blood and nerve flow to nerves that control the heart functions. The more that your heart can function at normal rates and can tell your body how to work the better off your heart and blood vessels will be.

Chiropractic care does help people because the blood control center is right at the top of the spine where the brain ends and the spinal cord begins. This is where blood pressure is controlled. A lot of times when you see someone with substantial forward head carriage and present with high blood pressure, it is due to that pressure on the blood control center. So if we can find a way to identify that with a spinal check-up and then reduce the forward head position we can often help people naturally lower their blood pressure. It will also help them come off their medications naturally.

Each person will have their own challenges and a spinal check-up will help a chiropractor determine why a person has high blood pressure. High blood pressure doesn’t happen because you’ve reached a certain age. It’s due to your choices in diet and lack of exercise, your stress levels and some of it is due to what you were exposed to as a child.  So head to your chiropractor today and get your spine checked so that you can live a healthier life.

How to manage stress during the holidays.

December 12, 2018 by Desire Treski Leave a Comment

The best way to manage your stress during the holidays is to make sure you’re meeting all of the fundamental needs of your body. First, you need to make sure that you get a CBP adjustment before you travel and when you get back. That way the adjustment will help to take away a lot of the stressors which come from sitting in airplanes, cars, and trains and just sitting in general.

The second step is to make sure that you are drinking ample amounts of water. A lot of people don’t drink enough water during the holidays. They tend to drink other things like alcohol, hot chocolate, and things that are dehydrating, so you want to make sure that your water levels are high.

Then you want to make sure that you’re managing your stress with some form of exercise. Whether it be yoga, running, or meditation, anything that is mental or physical exercise will be great for managing stress. Stretching when you get to your location and if you’re sitting a lot around the dinner table get up periodically. Move around, don’t get caught sitting on a couch for 5 hours.

You also want to make sure that you are eating as well as you can be. Even though the holidays tend to be very focused on sugar which is very bad for your body. You just want to be really careful about your sugar intake and making poor food choices and minimize those choices.

You can also take some extra vitamin C to support your body and some extra vitamin B complex is very good for anti-stress. B Complex is an anti-stress vitamin. B complex is really good for people who are under stress on a regular basis. Nowadays a lot of companies make something called adrenal support. This contains a lot of Bs, vitamin C and a lot of herbs that are helpful to support the adrenal glands because it is the adrenal glands that get overworked. Most Americans have overworked adrenal glands because of the stress levels we are under on a regular basis. Taking a supplement like that would be helpful to your body through times of stress.

Another thing you can do is to try to get quality sleep, whenever you can because that is when your body heals when you are sleeping. Lack of sleep can lower your body’s ability to handle stress.

There are other things that you can use to help with stress management, topical things. Lavender oil is very helpful for relaxing the body. Some people like melatonin to help with sleeping in a different place. There are a lot of teas out there that are helpful to relax the body, like chamomile.

Lastly, if you can detach from your electronics at least a half an hour before bed and do something that isn’t stimulating your brain as much like reading, praying, or meditating, doing something that would relax your body will make it easier to fall asleep.

So don’t stress out this holiday season and use this guide to help battle holiday stress. Make sure that you’re keeping up with your CBP adjustments and try to sneak an additional one in.

Why aren’t there more CBP Chiropractors in Albany?

November 14, 2018 by Desire Treski Leave a Comment

CBP stands for Chiropractic Biophysics and it is a specific technique within chiropractic care. Being a CBP practitioner is more labor intensive for the doctor because you have to do thorough examinations. You have to do x-rays. You have to analyze the x-rays and then you have to present that information to the patient in a way that is different from the way most people go to chiropractors for, which is pain management.

CBP Chiropractors have to present a whole different foreign concept of total body wellness through correction of the spine instead of just focusing on pain management. So what winds up happening for a lot of patients is, they contact a chiropractor because they want pain relief but chiropractic care is so much more than that. However, most chiropractors don’t bother to tell patients that. They just focus on what the patient is interested in which is the pain management part of it. Once the pain management has happened then the person disappears and they don’t continue.

Chiropractic care was not designed to do that. It was designed to take care of your spine, even if it doesn’t hurt because that is what keeps your body healthy. That concept is foreign for a lot of people. Especially the Western philosophy of medicine which, promotes reactionary care which, is to wait until something is hurting or wait until your injured to go get medicine or go get fixed. Versus the Eastern philosophy of medicine which, is to take care of the body that you have before it’s hurt before it gets sick. It’s a lot easier to stay well than to try to get well. Because of this, there are a lot of people who don’t know or they don’t think about being preventative.

That is what CBP Chiropractic care is. It is preventative care of the body. So that is a challenge in and of itself and might be a reason that many chiropractors don’t bother. It is also labor intensive for the doctor because they have to perform x-rays. If you are getting adjusted and you don’t have x-rays done you are taking the chance on permanent problems being done to your body. A doctor has to know what is going on structurally inside before they adjust and that can only be seen through x-rays.

If you go to other states that have different philosophies on health you’ll find there are more CBP chiropractors there. If a state has a philosophy of wellness you may find more CBP practitioners in that state.

The other reason is that CBP is a diplomate, which means that you will have to do additional schooling after chiropractic college. There may be a lot of chiropractors who don’t want to do extra training or extra education and that’s another reason there may not be more CBP chiropractors. It is not a branch of chiropractic care that is taught in the basic school systems so it is extra training that you will have to go for which can be expensive and time-consuming.

Doctors should always be learning and CBP Chiropractors have to always learn in order to keep their certifications up. Would you rather get care from someone who has a First aid certification or an EMT? I don’t know about you but I would rather receive care from an EMT, so why would you see a Chiropractor when you can see a CBP Chiropractor?

Do your body a favor and put it on the track to wellness. Make an appointment with a CBP doctor today and get on the road to health.

What Benefits are there for Newborns to get Adjusted by a CBP Chiropractor?

October 17, 2018 by Desire Treski Leave a Comment

The best benefit of having a newborn adjusted by a CBP doctor is that they have no pressure on their spinal cord at a young age. This allows their bodies to grow at 100%.  There have been many times when a child has had birthing trauma.

What are birthing traumas?

Let’s look at what a birthing trauma could be. It could be a natural birth. Any mom will tell you that giving birth to a child is very traumatic not only for themselves but for the baby as well.

There are also serious birthing situations like if someone needs a vacuum extraction. This is when a suction cup is placed on the top of the child’s head and their necks are yanked as they are being pulled out of their mother’s womb.

C-sections are the most traumatic birthing trauma. A lot of people don’t realize it because they think you just go in through a flap of skin and lift the baby out. However, it is very traumatic for the baby because the baby is usually lower in the birth canal, or descending into the birth canal and then someone is trying to bring them out a different way and that creates a lot of trauma on the baby’s neck.

When the baby comes through the birthing canal, he or she is exposed to a lot of beneficial bacteria, which the baby can use to help develop their immune system. When they are born through a c-section they miss out on that good bacteria.

A lot of times in a C-section the cervical, which is the neck, pressure marks the genetic code on the babies for asthma and allergies. A lot of times you’ll see babies who have been birthed through C-sections will be later diagnosed with asthma and/or allergies through the cervical cord trauma.

Cervical cord trauma also leads to sudden infant death syndrome. Trauma occurs to the cervical spine and the baby dies in its sleep because it doesn’t have the correct nerve flow. This can be avoided.

During the everyday.

While an infant is developing they are nursing. They are usually nursing and gravitate to one side more than the other because they may have a subluxation in their neck causing irritation. If the infant tends to have a lot of acid reflux that could be a result of a subluxation as well.

How can a CBP Chiropractor help?

Many of these maladies can be addressed with corrective care. By bringing in your child to a CBP chiropractor you are giving your child the best chance to grow at optimum levels. They will be sick less and be less irritated. Make an appointment for your infant today and get them on the road to optimum health.

Can the weather cause migraines?

April 18, 2018 by Desire Treski Leave a Comment

Have you ever been going about your day and gradually feel an intense pressure headache come on? Have you noticed that the wind has picked up or the air might feel heavier? Changes in atmospheric pressure have been thought to be a trigger for inducing migraines. According to the Mayo clinic, weather may cause imbalances in brain chemicals, including serotonin, which can lead to migraines. However, there is still no scientific proof that the weather can trigger a migraine.

As a CBP practitioner, Dr. B. has seen it a lot. If there is a storm coming in or some kind of pressure system, such as a tornado or high winds, people tend to have more trouble with headaches and migraines. She believes that there is a correlation but nothing has been proven, scientifically, yet.

If the weather can contribute to migraine occurrence, then what is a migraine?

A migraine headache is a complicated type of a headache. It usually involves hormonal reactions in the body. Sometimes it can be triggered by stress and it’s a different complex of headaches, a different complex of symptoms that attribute to a traditional stress headache.

Can anything be done to curb or prevent migraines?

One of the best ways to combat headaches and migraines is to receive regular adjustments from a Chiropractic Biophysics practitioner. Having proper spinal alignment leads to better nervous system function and that can help your body to function better. It can help to combat any of these weird weather-related occurrences that might interrupt your body’s natural flow.

What type of subluxation would trigger a migraine?

The top vertebra C1, the atlas, which rests at the base of the skull, is usually responsible for a migraine if it is a physical stressor because it has a direct attachment to the small muscles at the base of the head called the suboccipitals. When those get irritated they can compress what is called the Vagus nerve, that comes out of your brain, travels through the suboccipitals and into the stomach. This can lead to nausea, seeing auras, light sensitivity, and noise sensitivity, those pre-migraine situations.

Can migraines be caused by something other than subluxations and the weather?

Migraines are not always caused by subluxations in the neck, but subluxations are absolutely contributory. Stress is another factor. Both physical and emotional stress can play a role. Stress affects your hormones. It changes your hormones. When you are stressed your body pumps out a lot of adrenaline, which releases more cortisol, which is really bad for your body. Cortisol is the stuff that holds on to fat cells and it lays fat depositions in your arteries. Stress is a very dangerous thing that needs to be managed and it can certainly contribute to migraines.

Weather for some people is a stressor. Especially if they do not like rain or snow or sun. If there is something happening in their environment that they do not like, it can create stress which can lead to migraines.

Do you experience migraines?

Changes in the weather can be a stressor for many and for some unlucky few, it can lead to migraines. If you’re one of these people, you should get regular CBP adjustments. Not only will they allow your nervous system to work more efficiently but they will minimize the severity and frequency of your migraines. If you’re not already seeing a CBP chiropractor, get a checkup and see how a CBP chiropractor can help you.
